Techniques

  1. What are the advertising techniques that will be incorporated in this task? State at least two of them.
The techniques incorporated in this task will be:
-Bandwagon
-Testimonials

  1. Why have we chosen these?
We chose testimonials as we want to let SST students know that if they participate in the talent show, they may carve out a career for themselves, like how we did. We will then become rich and famous, earning a steady income. 

In regards to the other technique, we have chosen it as we want to exploit the desire of others to go to the ‘winning’ side. Most people want to win so if they see this, they would participate, hoping to get first place. The sign-ups would then go up the charts. 



Language Features

  1. What are the language features that will be incorporated in this task? State all of them.
Tagline, slogan, hyperbole, emotive words and declarative statements. 

2) Why have we chosen these?
We have chosen these as we want to exaggerate the effect if you join SST’s Got Talent. We need to make it as eye-catching and attention-grabbing as possible so that others may be interested to join the show. 

We have also included emotive words as it will be able to relate to the person (both physically and mentally). They would then be encouraged to join the talent show.

We finished up the script and started doing up the poster and filmed some parts of it. We also decided the things needed and the way of persuading others to join the talent show!

We continued filming and finished up the poster and added a few things to the template. 



Reflection Questions (Johanna)

-What is the PACC of this task?
The purpose of this task is to promote and introduce SST’s Got Talent, the target audience is on SST students. The content of it will be that the people will be introducing the SST Talent Show, making it encouraging and persuasive for others to join. The context is in School of Science and Technology, the time will be from 0900 to 1300 on 15 September 2013. We will be introducing the talent show to others so that they may find it fun and may want to join. 

-How can I contribute to the group? What are my strengths?
I can contribute to the group as I have great leadership skills and I will be able to allow the people in the group to focus. I am also good with testimonials.

-How often can I meet to discuss with my group mates? 
I can meet them at least 3 times a week, except for Monday, I can only meet them until 3pm due to my CCA. 

-How can I ensure that every member’s idea is carefully considered prior to making a decision?
We will discuss all ideas and no one would be left behind, I will listen to all the ideas before making a decision so I will not be biased and ruin friendships. 



Reflection Questions (Donovan)
-What is the PACC of this task?
The purpose is to encourage SST students to join the SST’s got talent show. The audience are SST students. The content is an advertisement for SST’s talent show. The context is 3 people who saw a poster promoting SST’s got talent and wanting to participate in it. 
-How can I contribute to the group? What are my strengths?
I am good in editing, so I can edit the poster. 

-How often can I meet to discuss with my group mates? 
I am not free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as I have floorball.

-How can I ensure that every member’s idea is carefully considered prior to making a decision?
We should meet up and discuss about it, then have a vote or something like that.

-What is the PACC of this task?
Purpose - To encourage more students to take part in the SST Talent Showcase
Audience - SST Students
Content - Encouraging scenes that will make students want to take part in the SST Talent Showcase
Context - This is for SST Students of any level.

-How can I contribute to the group? What are my strengths?
I am good at playing the keyboard, so this can help the poster be more realistic. Also, I can help with making sure everyone stays on task. 

-How often can I meet to discuss with my group mates? 
I cannot discuss on Monday and Wednesday as I have CCA. 

-How can I ensure that every member’s idea is carefully considered prior to making a decision?
I take everyones ideas into consideration. I analyze the idea and put my vote on it.

-What is the PACC of this task?
To encourage more students to take part in the SST Talent show.

-How can I contribute to the group? What are my strengths?
I can help to do research on what makes a good advertisements and the ways of making an advertisement.

-How often can I meet to discuss with my group mates? 
I can meet on Wednesday and Friday.

-How can I ensure that every member’s idea is carefully considered prior to making a decision?
I will consider everybody's opinions?

-What is the PACC of this task?
Purpose: Is to attract pupils to join the SST talent show
Audience: SST students
Content: stuff that present the talent show in a good light
Context: It takes place in SST on 21 December 2012 from 9am to 12 noon

-How can I contribute to the group? What are my strengths?
I can help take videos and act also.
My strengths are my acting and playing the drums! 

-How often can I meet to discuss with my group mates? 
Everyday accept Tuesday (tuition)

-How can I ensure that every member’s idea is carefully considered prior to making a decision?
I will clearly consider my friend’s opinions.

More people can be influenced by their greed for fame/money. They will feel more inspired to join when they see a famous person joined it before. They would be lured when they hear the benefits of getting their talent noticed.

2) Why have we chosen these?

We have chosen these as they can encourage the students to take part in the SST’s Talent Show, for example using hyperbole to add colour to the advertisement.

3. Composing Ad Slogans:

a. Select a real-world item you would like to sell.
b. Download and save a photo of it from the internet.
c. Use any of the techniques listed on the whiteboard to come up with a persuasive slogan for your item.
