Expository writing

Definition-It is a type of writing that inform,explain or describe information or idea.You need to use words that vividly describes what the subject is rather than plainly discussing it.
Purpose-To describe,explain,define,instruct or inform something.
Examples-Job applications,letters of recommendation,job evaluation

The primary purpose for expository writing is to give provide information or an idea.
The primary purpose for Narrative writing is to describe an experience,sequence of events in a story.
Personal recounts uses past tense while for expository writing you need to use present tense.
